Westbound and floating

How to write about your life without letting the ego get in the way... A summary of events is always an easy way, however the assumption is always there that the individual on the other end wants to read it.  So I offer this entry to those who would like to read on, insight into the last 6 or 7 months that I have been away from the blogging world...

It occurs to me that it would be much easier to write what's on my mind if I did it in smaller chunks... Not quite what happened here. Anyways, there's been a few themes surfacing in the last month or two, with my summer job winding down, and actually having some free time to do some biking and reflecting and reading and relaxing.

It's really easy to get wound up on anything that doesn't quite agree with your wavelength, however if one actually takes a step back, you might realize that the other person is simply in need of some space or a new perspective. It has the power to transform someone completely, and I feel like I've been working really hard at gaining that perspective lately...

I have had the fortunate opportunity to ride my bike for 22 days in a row, now winding down however, I have realized just how grateful I am to have a little break in the rampage of groaning, reluctant, muscle punishing adventure of finding and exploring new trails. I love riding my bike, and anyone that I ride with will tell you that, but like anything else, you can love it to death. And so I am rather glad of the snow, both to put an end to this significant effort, and so that I can partake in my other great outdoor love - skiing =D

Life seems so simple when all you have to do every day is figure a ride that will be somewhat fun. Clarity comes to the mind as there is no clutter, no pressure, no conflict, just motivation to go and play. I return to Calgary with a renewed sense of the importance of community, friends, compassion, trust, and risk.  It's peaceful. And I'm continually reminded of the things that I value most out of life; that most things are not worth stressing over; that they are as they will be, and perhaps most pertinent for me - that not everything needs to happen all at once.

What are your most important life lessons lately?
